Overview
Pharmacy technicians support pharmacists by preparing, dispensing, and managing medications and pharmacy operations across a variety of settings including retail pharmacies, university hospitals, clinics, and research facilities.
Responsibilities- Assist licensed pharmacists in the dispensing, preparation, and management of medications.
- Fill prescriptions, maintain medication inventory, and process insurance claims to ensure efficient pharmacy operations.
- Provide support services in clinical or specialty pharmacy areas under moderate supervision.
- Interpret and apply standard pharmacy procedures while maintaining high quality and patient safety.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum 6 months of relevant experience.
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy within 1.5 years of hire; must register as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee upon hire.
Required to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy within 1.5 years of hire. Persons enrolled in a pharmacy technician training program must obtain a pharmacy technician trainee registration if they will be performing the duties of a pharmacy technician.
Physical DemandsJob requires prolonged sitting, proficient communication, auditory and visual skills, attention to detail, and the ability to write legibly.
CompensationHourly range: $20.68 – $32.05.
