These roles provide essential assistance to healthcare professionals in delivering patient care, ensuring the smooth functioning of clinical operations by handling tasks that support diagnostic, therapeutic, and procedural aspects of patient care. Allied Health professionals work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of medical services.
These positions focus on the preparation, performance, and post‑operative support of surgical teams, including sterilization, instrument preparation and handling, and applied support during surgery. May work in hospitals, surgical centers, and clinics, and include responsibilities from planning and preparation to recovery and follow‑up.
Entry‑level position typically requiring little to no prior knowledge or experience and requires vocational or technical education. Work is routine or follows standard procedures. Work is closely supervised. Communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation.
Minimum Requirements- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled or graduated from a surgical technologist training program accredited by CAHEEP/ABHES or NCCT Approved program. - Experience:
No experience required. - Licensure: BLS required. Certified to practice as a Surgical Technologist by NBSTSA or NCCT required at start date. Current Registration with Virginia Board of Medicine required at hire.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods; repetitive motion: passing instruments, lifting heavy instrument sets. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull >50–100 lbs. May be exposed to cold, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
Position Compensation$20.68 – $32.05 hourly.
