Key Responsibilities
• Patient Evaluation and Treatment: o Conduct thorough evaluations of referred patients. o Develop and implement individualized treatment plans. o Provide discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up care.
• Documentation: o Accurately document evaluation results and services provided. o Adhere to hospital and department guidelines for documentation.
• Interdisciplinary
Collaboration:
o Participate as a member of both self-directed departmental and interdisciplinary patient care teams. o Engage in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to goal setting for routine diagnoses.
• Clinical Instruction and Training: o Provide clinical instruction to OT and OTA students. o Offer training and education to department and hospital staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
o Supervise Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers, and students during clinical rotations. Qualifications Licensure, Certification, or Registration:
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Virginia.
• CPR Certification if required by the clinic or practice area.
Experience:
•
REQUIRED:
New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist.
• PREFERRED:
Prior experience in a similar healthcare facility. Education/Training:
•
REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
• PREFERRED:
Master’s or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy. Skills and Attributes:
• Ability to evaluate and treat patients with routine diagnoses.
• Competence in setting schedules, managing time, and completing documentation.
• Effective interaction with interdisciplinary teams and self-directed work teams.
• Customer service skills for interacting with patients and families.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Licensed (or licensed eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Completion of licensing requirements for new graduates within 1 year of graduation. Maintenance of licensure once granted. Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area Experience
REQUIRED:
New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist Experience PREFERRED: Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility Education/training
REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy Education/training PREFERRED: Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy Independent action(s) required: Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses. Setting schedule and managing time. Reporting in interdisciplinary rounds. Goal setting for routine diagnoses. Completion of routine documentation. Interaction with the interdisciplinary team and self-directed work team. Customer interaction.
Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Occupational Therapist provides supervision for Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers and students doing clinical rotations. Additional position requirements: Schedules and work hours will be established with your specific Manager. Schedules, including weekends and holidays, will be required based on the unit’s organizational and staffing needs. Age Specific groups served: As appropriate based on unit assignment.
Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate): Physical - Lifting 50-100 lbs.
