The City of Williamsburg's Department of Voter Registration & Elections is hiring an on-call Deputy Regitrar. This position will be responsible for assisting the General Registrar (GR) in the administration of the voter registration program for the City and assisting the Electoral Board in conducting elections. Work includes assisting in the maintenance of voter registrations and related records, developing a comprehensive knowledge of Virginia and Federal election laws, and possessing effective communication, public relations and office management skills.
The position is subject to regulations and policies promulgated by the State Board of Elections, the Williamsburg Electoral Board and City personnel policies and is appointed by the GR for a term not to exceed the duration of the GR’s appointment.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent;
- Three (3) years of related experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special
Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia Driver's License;
- Resident and registered voter of the Commonwealth of Virginia;
- Shall not be the spouse of an Electoral Board member or the GR;
- Shall not be any person or the spouse of any person who is the parent, grandparent, sibling, child or grandchild of an Electoral Board member or GR;
- Shall not hold any other elected or appointed office
