One of our key contracts is a high-profile, integrated Hard, Soft and Technical FM service for the Ministry of Defence (MoD), based near Watford.

Due to continued demand, we are now seeking a Maintenance Assistant to be responsible for escorting staff, visitors and sub-contractors as necessary in accordance with the site security requirements, as well as providing general assistance to the maintenance team as and when directed. This role will also be responsible for supporting the operation of the engineering stores located around the Northwood site including receipt and dispatch of spares, equipment and tools.

As

Maintenance Assistant – You Will:
  • Ensure all stores, workshops, engineering areas and plant rooms are inspected and maintained in a clean and tidy condition at all times (includes both above and below ground assets).
  • Maintain Equipment Registers, Calibration Registers and Ladders Registers, including completing of regular Equipment/Ladder inspections / Audits
  • Carry out site Planned Preventative Maintenance inspections and tasks as and when directed, to include, but not limited to, car parking checks, waste compound inspections, utility meter readings.
  • Carry out weekly fire alarm testing
  • Implement & comply with the procedures as detailed in the company’s Health & Safety Policies, Statutory obligations and in accordance with the Skanska IFE (Injury Free Environment)
  • Ensure all persons requiring escort are correctly identified and comply at all times with the site security and safety requirements.
  • Provide general assistance as and when directed in support of engineering and asset management tasks.
  • Assist with the setting up of temporary works areas in support of maintenance and reactive tasks.
  • Undertake any other tasks that may arise from time to time as required and directed by Line Manager/ Supervisor
As Maintenance Assistant – We Need:
  • Good team working skills, but also ability to work on your own
  • Must be able to adapt to changing priorities at a moment’s notice
  • Be able to fully satisfy the Client security clearance minimum requirements (DV)
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Previous experience of Engineering Services Maintenance
  • Previous experience of MOD or critical environment sites
  • Excellent team working and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent customer care skills
