Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Responsibilities
  • Works under direction of a Supervisor or Senior Technician and performs maintenance and calibration activities in shop and field environments, including normal and radiological areas of the plant.
  • Performs maintenance, calibration, and testing of safety-related equipment associated with electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation and control systems.
  • Completes the Instrument and Control Technician Training program and assists with scheduled work activities such as preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and calibrations.
  • Works on analog and digital control systems including microprocessor, electronic, and pneumatic instrumentation and controls (pressure, temperature, and flow sensors and associated alarm circuits).
  • Corrects anomalous operations of indicators, controllers and instrument loops using advanced test equipment and investigative techniques; completes documentation per approved procedures.
  • Adheres to Work Management processes, Equipment Clearances (safety tagging), and Radiological Work permits; follows Safety regulations, policies, and practices.
  • Assists Technicians with maintenance, calibrations, and testing of equipment and control loops on systems including the reactor containment and other radiological areas during all modes of plant operation.
  • Uses industry-accepted human performance practices to promote error-free performance and coaches others to raise standards and expectations.
  • Completes initial and on-the-job training and evaluation requirements identified in the Nuclear Instrument Technician Training Program as accredited by the National Academy for Nuclear Training.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
  • Nuclear Instrument Tech I – 0-2 years (additional related experience). Commercial nuclear power experience and Nuclear Navy (ET or EM) experience preferred.
  • Nuclear Instrument Tech II – Successfully completed Navy Nuclear Propulsion training and minimum 6 years field/fleet experience as Nuclear Electronics Technician (ET); OR 6+ years of related industrial experience (Instrument & Controls, electronics, etc.). Military electronic experience preferred.
  • Nuclear Instrument Tech III – Successful completion of Nuclear Instrument Technician Development Program as accredited by the National Academy for Nuclear Training.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot analog and digital instrumentation and control circuits.
  • General familiarity with electrical and mechanical physical/dimensional measurements.
  • Ability to interpret general diagrams, prints, and written procedures and to perform work using that information.
  • Physical ability to use respirators, SCBA bottles, fall protection, or other equipment required to maintain a Nuclear Power Plant, including containment entries.
  • Ability to work at varying elevations, in confined quarters, and in radiological areas of the plant.
  • Ability to carry a minimum of 50 pounds of tooling, test equipment, and plant equipment.
Education & Certifications

Education Requirements
Preferred:
Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Associate degree preferred in Instrumentation Technology. Other disciplines may be substituted for preferred disciplines.
