Power Engineer

Job Title: Power Engineer

Location: Halifax, NS B3L 2C2 (On site)

Salary: $25.00 to $33.00 per hour (to be negotiated), 40 hours per week.

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    College/CEGEP.
  • Experience:

    1 year to less than 2 years.
  • Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses:
    Stationary Engineer 4th Class.
  • Equipment and machinery experience:
    Alarms, Chillers, Compressors, Cooling tower, Electronic controls, Generators, HVAC, Heat exchangers, High pressure boilers, Pneumatic controlled switchboards, Pumps, Switches, Valves.
  • Area of specialization:
    Heating, Maintenance, Mechanical engineering technology, Refrigeration, Repair, Ventilation.
  • Personal suitability:
    Dependability, Efficient interpersonal skills, Team player.
  • Security & safety:
    Criminal record check.
  • Weight handling:
    Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Own tools/equipment:
    Steel-toed safety boots.
  • Transportation/travel information:
    Public transportation is available.
Responsibilities
  • Assist during routine systems testing.
  • Assist in locating and isolating system problems.
  • Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment.
  • Investigate problems to fix or make minor repair.
  • Maintain daily log of operation, maintenance and safety activities.
  • Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally.
  • Operate automated or computerized control systems.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Regulate water levels.
