As a Software Engineering Manager – Manager Level 2 located in Dulles, VA
, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. This role will be approximately 75% program & technical work and approximately 25% functional management work managing a segment of a program or a function. It is responsible for the direct supervision and management of embedded software staff, and for providing objective‑oriented directions to subordinates utilizing management guidelines & general policies.
The position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
- Address cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system development‑type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large delivery order or mid‑size technical services‑type contract.
- Assignments received in objective‑oriented terms.
- Full working knowledge of procedures and practices.
- Oversee projects and tasks assigned to the organizational group.
- Interpret and execute policies and procedures that directly impact team performance, morale, and effectiveness.
- Recommend modifications to operating policies.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Act as an advisor to team members regarding tasks, projects, and operations.
- Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations, scheduling, or specific phases of projects or contracts.
- Conduct briefings and participate in technical meetings for internal/external representatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree of Science in a STEM discipline with 8+ years of software related experience and high proficiency in technical problem‑solving, including decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and control account monitoring.
- OR Master’s degree of Science in a STEM discipline with 6+ years of software related experience and high proficiency in technical problem‑solving.
- No clearance required to start, but must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret clearance with SCI.
- US Citizenship required.
- Experience in requirements analysis, modeling and simulation, embedded software development, and verification and validation at subsystem and system level.
- Demonstrated software engineering, controls, or systems engineering leadership experience, preferably with experience in Space Flight Software or Simulation Software.
- Ability to form strong partnerships to ensure lockstep coordination with adjacent discipline areas and program manager leadership.
- Active TS clearance with current/active SCI [TS/SCI].
- Master of Science in Engineering or other STEM discipline.
