Geospatial Technician – 3D Stereo Compilation
Join NV5 as a Geospatial Technician to support high‑impact projects in the Dulles, VA location within the Washington, DC Metro area near Loudoun Gateway Silverline metro station. This role focuses on 3D stereo compilation using advanced photogrammetric software to extract, compile, and quality‑control planimetric and topographic features from remote sensing data sources such as aerial, UAS, mobile, satellite imagery, and LiDAR.
WorkEnvironment
- Location:
On‑site at the NV5 Geospatial office in Dulles, VA. - Team: 3D stereo and geospatial team.
- Tools:
Photogrammetric software (Trimble Inpho Match AT, DAT/EM Summit Evolution, SOCET GXP, etc.) and network‑based data systems.
- Digitally extract vector features and build Digital Terrain Models (DTMs).
- Operate advanced photogrammetric software to perform interior, relative, and absolute orientations.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity through rigorous quality control and documentation.
- Archive and manage geospatial datasets using network‑based data systems.
- Collaborate with experienced analysts and team leaders for hands‑on training in stereo compilation workflows.
- Proficiency in DAT/EM Summit Evolution, Micro Station, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS Pro.
- Strong stereo vision acuity and hand‑eye coordination for 3D feature extraction.
- Ability to operate a specialized computer mouse using both hands.
- Excellent attention to detail, focus, and spatial reasoning skills.
- Associate degree in GIS, Geomatics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Must be authorized to work in the US (US Citizenship or Green Card).
- Bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Science, Civil Engineering, Cartography, or related discipline.
- 2+ years’ experience in a technical, professional environment using digital geospatial software (DAT/EM, SOCET GXP, Hexagon SSK, Micro Station, AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS).
- Experience in digital photogrammetry, surveying, or remote sensing.
- Familiarity with DAT/EM, SOCET GXP, Trimble Inpho, or Pix4D.
- Certifications such as ASPRS Certified Photogrammetrist or GISP.
