This Position reports to:
US Director of Field Application Engineering
In this role, you'll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.
As an Industry Application Engineer focused in the data Center sector, you will play a strategic role in identifying customer needs, and opportunities for ABB to deliver impactful solutions to the institutions.
The work model for the role is: remote (#Li-Remote) with over 50% travel.
Your role and responsibilitiesMarket Insight & Customer Engagement - Act as a liaison with data center stakeholders to identify trends, customer needs, and product gaps; deliver tailored technical presentations and propose enhancements that align with market demands.
Solution Development & Customization - Design and recommend customized solutions, including protection, control, and monitoring features, to address client challenges and ensure strong ROI while promoting ABB's latest technologies.
Strategic Analysis & Value Mapping - Conduct value stream mapping and competitive analysis across the data center ecosystem; document key roles, utility relationships, and barriers to adoption to strengthen ABB's market positioning.
Internal Collaboration & Industry Representation - Coordinate with internal teams for seamless execution, provide progress reporting, and represent ABB at industry events and on Linked In to enhance brand visibility and customer engagement.

Qualifications for the roleBachelor's degree preferably in Electrical Engineering (PE or master's degree is a plus)
8+ years of experience (Power Distribution equipment experience including but not limited to Switchgear, Panel boards, Motor Control preferred)
Strong knowledge of electrical standards and codes (UL, ANSI, JCAHO), power systems, digital and energy management solutions, and ability to interpret one-line diagrams and technical specifications.
Understand budgeting considerations and position ABB solutions to address cost concerns while aligning with client priorities and ROI goals.
Proven ability to identify decision-makers, build long-term relationships with key stakeholders, and maintain credibility within data center engineering and healthcare industry organizations (ASHE, NEHES, Healthcare New England Council).
Exceptional written and verbal communication with strong executive-level presentation capabilities to engage and influence diverse audiences.
Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
