Lead Substation Protection and Control Engineer

Overview

Lead Substation Protection and Control Engineer to join our Substation Engineering organization. As a future leader of the substation protection and control group at Leidos, we support career objectives and personal well-being to achieve a successful work-life balance. You will interact with other electric utility disciplines, leading and designing high voltage utility substation projects. REMOTE or HYBRID options available in the Charlotte, NC office for applicants. Candidates must be located in the United States or be able to relocate to the United States.

• Act as a key contributor to the development of substation protection and control design projects
• Lead, mentor and grow a diverse team of engineers, designers, and drafters
• Take complete ownership of each project, including management of financials, resources, and design
• Coordinate with external clients and act as liaison and lead on projects
• Continually improve and maximize quality
• Communicate effectively and professionally with clients
• Contribute to the definition of design scope, philosophies, and design methodologies

• Participating in leadership training
• Career advancement and leadership opportunities
• Technical training to expand skills
• Support to obtain and maintain Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
• Exposure to projects ranging from distribution to transmission voltages

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Eight (8+) years of direct experience in substation protection and control design
• Ability to lead substation design projects by aligning engineering execution with program management

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
• Master’s degree in related field
• Experience leading a project team
• Experience in substation physical design
• Field testing/commissioning experience
