ATCS is growing! We are looking for a Responsible Charge Engineer to join our Construction Services team in Newport News to oversee major transportation projects during the construction phase. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license in VA and possess a strong commitment to ensuring compliance, safety, and quality in all aspects of project execution.

• Responsible for the direct and personal supervision of engineering activities during construction.
• Ensure projects are constructed in strict accordance with contract documents and specifications.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation to demonstrate compliance with:
  • Project requirements.
  • Applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Safety and environmental standards.
• Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including VDOT staff, local government agencies, consultants, and the public.
• Prepare project correspondence and progress reports for client approval and support project meetings.
• Provide timely and articulate communication between necessary parties that furthers the project and helps meet clients' goals.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer’s license required, preferably in VA. Will consider other states with a commitment to obtain a Virginia PE within 6 months of starting employment.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in transportation construction projects, preferably in VA.
• Familiarity with AASHTO, VDOT and regional design standards, practices and policies.
• Excellent oral, written, communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office suite and construction management software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Competitive salary range of $110,000 to $145,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• Annual bonus with a target 2% of the employee’s annualized salary.
