Richard Bland College (RBC) is a two‑year, residential, liberal arts transfer institution dedicated to preparing students for successful transfer to highly ranked colleges and universities. Role OverviewThis position is open to current RBC employees only. The primary responsibility is to provide college‑level instruction and academic‑related activities designed to encourage, support, and enable student success. Duties include teaching Communication courses at all levels, fostering interdisciplinary ties with other departments, and supporting student advising as directed by the Languages & Humanities Department Chair.
Responsibilities- Teach Communication courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures.
- Prepare and submit timely grade reports and other reports on student performance, as required.
- Organize class activities and assignments, relating them to the overall learning outcomes of the courses.
- Provide input and work with other faculty and staff to review, produce, and/or select course‑related materials.
- A Doctoral Degree in Communications (or a closely related discipline) from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the subject area of instruction.
- Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and instruction.
- Knowledge of the characteristics and challenges of first‑ and second‑year college students.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and collaborative style.
- Considerable experience teaching in a higher‑education environment, preferably at the junior college/community college level.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
