Job Description:
This full-time faculty position offers an engaging opportunity to teach business courses and lead the Business Administration, Management, and related Career Studies Certificate programs. Faculty members play a vital role in creating a positive, caring, and dynamic learning environment that fosters student success, values diversity, promotes community engagement, and reflects Laurel Ridge Community College’s mission and values. The successful candidate will support the goals of the College, School of Professional and Technical Studies, and the Business Administration and Management programs while adhering to all Virginia Community College System (VCCS) policies and procedures.
Responsibilities of this position will include serving on college committees (as assigned), evaluating and revising the curriculum, participating in monthly college-wide and division meetings, and assisting with program assessment and development. Faculty members are to engage in activities that demonstrate a commitment to students, community organizations, and/or the College. Typical loads for full-time faculty at Laurel Ridge Community College are normally 15-credit hours per semester, during the academic year, with 10 student engagement hours required each week.
Faculty members are also required to collaborate with others (full and part-time employees) to ensure teaching uniformity and continuity of material and expectations.
As Program Lead/Coordinator this individual will:
- Provide academic leadership, operational oversight, and instructional excellence for business programs in alignment with the mission of the school and college.
- Serve as primary point of contact, supporting faculty and students while advancing enrollment growth, external partnerships, and continuous program improvement.
- Oversee the textbook adoption, curriculum development, revision, and evaluation processes, ensuring accuracy of syllabi, course content summaries, catalog, and curriculum maps.
- Maintain and facilitate the Curriculum Advisory Committee, coordinating meetings and integrating feedback into curriculum planning and workforce alignment.
- Direct program level assessment and accreditation activities, including annual student learning outcomes reporting, program reviews, and continuous improvement planning.
- Collaborate with the Dean to develop and manage program schedules based on enrollment trends, staffing capacity, curricular sequencing, modality needs, and budget considerations.
- Partner with the Dean to recruit, orient, mentor, and observe full‑time, adjunct, and dual enrollment faculty; support instructional quality, course development, assessment participation, and professional growth.
- Support student recruitment (with specific emphasis on adult learners), retention, advising, transfer credit evaluation, and degree progress.
- Lead enrollment growth strategies, outreach, and program promotion across campuses and instructional sites. Review and update program marketing materials, guides, and website content.
- Develop and sustain external partnerships with industry, community organizations, and educational partners.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for the position is $54,387 to $117,180 per year, however, actual starting salary will commensurate with education and/or experience. The position is a 9 month faculty role and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies and the Virginia Community College System.
