Overview
Description The University of Virginia School of Law seeks candidates for a faculty member in its Legal Research and Writing program. This is an academic general (non-tenure-track) faculty position on the teaching track. Duties include teaching, program planning, and supervising 2L and 3L fellows, who serve as teaching assistants. The position will begin before the start of the 2026-27 academic year.

The Legal Research and Writing program prepares students for success in law school and practice, introducing first-year students to legal research, analysis, and writing over two semesters.
Students learn to identify, interpret, and use legal authority; craft clear, well-reasoned legal analyses; and engage in advocacy, with an emphasis on professionalism, ethics, and technology.
Salary and rank commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities- Teach in the Legal Research and Writing program.
- Engage in program planning and administration related to the curriculum and activities.
- Supervise 2L and 3L fellows who serve as teaching assistants.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school is required.
- At least three years of experience as a law clerk and/or attorney.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; demonstrated interest in teaching and mentoring law students; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collegially as part of a team.
