Overview
Description The University of Virginia's College at Wise, a division of The University of Virginia located in Wise, Virginia, invites applications for an Instructor position (non-tenure track) in Science Education
. The position is a full-time, 9-month commitment at the Instructor level with the potential for summer teaching.
Responsibilities include teaching a sequence of upper-level courses focusing on content and pedagogy related to the Life and Earth Sciences for PreK-12 teachers; serving the Department of Natural Sciences and the College on various committees; advising and mentoring students, particularly in the College's Teacher Education Program; and assisting the Department with assessment and other duties as needed. Time permitting, this position may also supervise or conduct outreach activities and other training opportunities with students and teachers from local K-12 schools.
Qualifications
- Master’s or doctoral degree in Science Education or a closely related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability for engaged and innovative teaching at the undergraduate level.
- Experience with the Virginia Standards of Learning and experience teaching in a PreK-12 school setting (preferred).
