General Statement of DutiesThe head coach displays the ability to manage all aspects of a public‑school sports program, including coordinating high‑level practice sessions and providing exceptional leadership and coaching for student‑athletes during regional and state competitions. They possess a proven ability to recruit and coordinate the efforts of an assistant coaching staff, manage the team's fundraising efforts while maintaining the highest standards of sportsmanship and teamwork.
EssentialDuties
- Organizes the volleyball program
- Prepares players both physically and mentally for interscholastic competition through practice, teaching of fundamental skills, and knowledge of rules
- Checks eligibility forms and submits to the Student Activities Director
- Sees that all physical and academic requirements are met by each player and submits such information to the Student Activities Director in order to establish VHSL eligibility list
- Supervises the cleaning, storage, and proper care of all equipment
- Requisition s, through the Student Activities Director, supplies, uniforms, and all necessary equipment
- Fosters good school‑community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program
- Conducts pre‑season meetings with parents
- Prepares daily practice schedule and conducts practice sessions
- Attends all VHSL clinics
- Follows county financial policies concerning the collection and receipting of funds
- Demonstrated ability to support a management program through previous experience as a coach or player.
- Previous coaching experience, knowledge of the sport, and current understanding of coaching techniques and strategies.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to mentor and motivate student‑athletes.
- Coaches with prior college experience are strongly encouraged to apply
