H Program Assistant - Buckingham

Overview

4-H Program Assistant - Buckingham County at Virginia Tech. The role involves delivering quality 4-H educational programs in collaboration with the Buckingham County Extension faculty, staff, and community partners. The person will work with 4-H youth in after-school, school enrichment, and other 4-H programming, including summer camps. The position may support agriculture and natural resources programming and joint programming.

• Deliver quality 4-H educational programs in partnership with Buckingham County Extension faculty, staff, and community partners.
• Engage with 4-H youth in after-school programs, school enrichment, and summer camps.
• Support agriculture and natural resources programming efforts and joint programming as needed.

• Experience working with youth of broad backgrounds.
• Experience interacting effectively with youth and adults both orally and in writing.
• Well organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to recruit, motivate, and engage youth and adult volunteers.
• Willingness to work as a team member with VCE faculty and staff, local stakeholders, partnering agencies, and volunteers.
• Familiarity and working experience with computers, including Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must have access to reliable transportation to and from various worksites.

• Background and experience in teaching or youth development, working with volunteers, and/or experience in 4-H with a demonstrated ability to be in a supportive and empowering role with others.
• Ability to identify needs and plan, implement, and evaluate program impacts.
• Ability to effectively market programs.

• Overtime Status:
  Non-Exempt;

• Salary Information: $16.26 - $17.00

The successful candidate will be required to have a driver s license check with an acceptable and safe driving record and must provide their own transportation on a regular basis. Variable work schedule and flexible hours depending on time of year and programs offered. A criminal conviction check is also required.
