ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Conduct a program of primary medical care via examination, diagnosis & treatment of patients.
  • Provide medical treatment and advice to patients as indicated. Obtain past medical history and review pertinent medical records. Examine patients, utilize laboratory and x‑ray diagnostic tests, interpret findings for differential diagnosis; diagnose ailment(s) and perform necessary treatment including minor surgical procedures, carrying out such follow‑up treatment as may be medically indicated. Refer for consultation to medical, surgical or other health services patients who are not qualified to treat, or for confirmation of diagnosis/treatment.
  • Prescribe and/or dispense required medication to patients.
  • Seek advice and consultation from more senior and experienced physicians as required.
  • Provide medical supervision to the assigned staff of other health professionals. When requested, perform peer supervisory duties including peer review of medical documentation.
  • Direct, organize, and participate in preventive health programs such as immunization, disease detection and disease prevention activities.
  • Provide health consultation to community groups in the designated area.
  • Adhere to the provisions in his/her contract.
  • Lead and support clinical staff in creating and maintaining a team‑based, patient‑centered medical practice model.
  • Assist all Health Center health professionals to function according to their professional standards of practice.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance Programs.
  • Abide by the Bylaws and Principles of Practice.
  • Maintain high standards of personal and professional behavior in connection with position.
  • Maintain a good program of continuing professional education to keep his/her medical knowledge and professional competence at an acceptable level.
  • Provide after‑hours, weekend and holiday coverage in rotation with other providers. This coverage includes availability for phone consultation or, as appropriate, meeting patient at site.
  • Submit and complete appropriate and timely documentation into the electronic health record.
  • Complete coding and billing functions in the electronic health record in a timely fashion.
  • Follow security protocols regarding the use of electronic devices utilized in patient care.
  • Participate in committees deemed necessary and relevant to our mission.
  • Attend work as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Clinical Director/Regional Medical Officer.
STANDARD PRECAUTIONS STATEMENT

May come into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise standard precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control. Employee will be expected to participate in Mycobacterium Tuberculosis screening annually. Employee will either receive Hepatitis B vaccine, if needed, or sign a declination statement.
