Matern Staffing is hiring an Industrial Forklift Operator for a fire‑retardant treated wood plant in Bowling Green, VA. In this essential role, you'll support production by safely and efficiently moving wood bundles across various plant departments. Whether you're loading trucks in Shipping or preparing materials in the Kiln or Treating Plant, your focus on safety and precision will keep operations flowing smoothly.
This is a great opportunity for someone with industrial forklift experience looking to work in a team‑focused, hands‑on environment with opportunities to grow.
Starting Pay Rate:
$18.00/hr
Schedule:
1st shift: 7:00 am‑5:30 pm, Monday thru Friday
What You’ll Do:- Safely operate forklifts to move wood bundles across departments (Receiving, Shipping, Kiln, Treating, Stacker)
- Load and unload trucks, kilns, and tram cars based on assignment
- Stage, stack, and store materials to support efficient production flow
- Follow all safety and environmental procedures, reporting any issues
- Complete daily forklift inspections and attend required safety trainings
- Float between departments as needed to support overall operations
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid forklift certification
- Previous industrial forklift or material handling experience in an industrial setting
- Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail
- Team player mindset with flexibility to shift between departments
- Physical ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity, rain), lift/carry 50 lbs or more, perform physically demanding tasks, and work comfortably at heights up to 100 feet.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
