CNC Machinist

Location: Roanoke

Trillium Staffing is now seeking CNC Machinists in varying levels of experience!

Operator level: $20 - $24/hr
Setup Machinist: $24 - $30/hr
Programmer / Set-Up: $30 - $38/hr

The CNC Milling Operator is responsible for running production on CNC milling machines, including loading parts, monitoring machining operations, and performing basic quality checks. The operator ensures jobs are run efficiently and accurately by following setup sheets, travelers, and in-process inspection procedures. This role also serves as a development opportunity for individuals seeking to grow into CNC setup and programming responsibilities.

Operators are expected to continuously improve their machining skills and take on progressively more technical tasks under mentorship.

Responsibilities:

• Load and unload parts on CNC milling machines according to job routers and setup instructions.

• Monitor machine operations and adjust offsets when necessary to maintain dimensional accuracy.

• Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.

• Document part counts, inspection results, and complete production paperwork.

• Report machining issues, tool wear, or non-conformances to the lead or supervisor.

• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

• Follow all safety and quality control procedures.

• Actively participate in learning setup methods, tooling concepts, and programming basics for future growth.

Qualifications:

• 1+ year of CNC machine operation experience preferred.

• Basic knowledge of G-code and CNC machining principles.

• Ability to use precision measuring tools and interpret simple drawings.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

• Interest in developing skills in setup and programming through on-the-job learning and mentorship.
