Primary ObjectivePerform preventive maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and adjustments to weaving machinery (looms) to minimize machine downtime and maintain maximum quality and production levels.
Responsibilities- Patrol assigned looms to identify quality defects and machine malfunctions; make adjustments, repairs, and overhauls to minimize downtime.
- Perform checklists for style changes, new warps, and maintenance looms.
- Conduct preventive maintenance procedures, record actions, and recommend repairs.
- Inspect malfunctions and woven cloth; locate problems and execute repairs, cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments.
- Replace defective parts, adjust tension and timing using hand tools; level and align parts to prevent excessive wear.
- Assist warp changer personnel with cleaning and startup at warp out.
- Carry out routine cleaning duties on assigned looms.
- Support weavers in repairing stops and correcting yarn issues.
- Measure roll widths as directed.
- Follow written lockout/tagout procedures.
- Execute blow‑off and oiling schedules, including cleaning Plexiglas shields and mopping under looms.
- Replace oil pads, weave as directed, and assist with various loom components such as treadle levers, FA conveyor tracks, friction drives, clutch and brake bands, and oil seals.
- Perform major repairs on take‑up shafts, reel changes, and bore housing adjustments.
- Collaborate with other loom fixers on jobs requiring two or more persons: harness drives, motor changes, electro‑bar changes, and maintenance of harness slats and bearings.
- Participate in safety programs, notify supervision of hazards, and maintain a clean work area.
- Complete additional duties assigned by management.
Mandatory:
Must be able to read and write in the manner indicated on the application; new employees may be required to pass a mechanical aptitude test.
Preferred:
Prior weaver experience; warp changer and beam operator experience acceptable.
- Must be able to work assigned schedule and be self‑motivated.
- Demonstrate mechanical troubleshooting, logical calculations, and ability to fill out forms/check sheets legibly.
- Possess knowledge of loom mechanics, weaving procedures, quality standards, and product specifications.
- Learn job‑specific computer skills and pass weekly mechanical and written evaluations.
Reports to Shift Supervisor or Weaving Department Manager and works with minimal supervision. Independently determines job priorities within personal activity scope.

- Proactively pursue preventive maintenance issues.

- Know lockout/tagout and other safety requirements.
- Use manuals and diagrams for machine repair.
- Operate weaving machines safely for starting, stopping, threading, knots, and general maintenance.
Stand and walk continuously for 8‑12 hours; move throughout the weaving department; climb catwalk as needed; push/pull up to 50 lbs.; lift/carry up to 50 lbs.; bend, kneel, stoop, squat; use fine motor skills for small tools.
Safety Requirements Wear hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes; adhere to plant clothing and footwear policy; use lockout/tagout where required.Machine, Tools, Equipment & Materials
Looms, powered industrial equipment, metric tool set, hand tools, gauges, grinders, drills, pry bars, oil cans, shuttles, pens, reed hooks, paints, buffers, lockout devices, and cleaning fluids.
All tools are provided; employees maintain their tools and replace lost ones.
