Operations Manager, Production Manager
Overview
Responsible for overall execution of daily plant operation activities while ensuring cost effectiveness, timeliness, and accuracy of processing as well as high product quality and workplace safety for the entire production team. Oversees staff to maintain safe, standardized, and efficient environmental compliance, equipment & facility maintenance, and processing of soiled products through wash and dry aisles, dryer offloading, sorting, bundling, and storage or delivery.
Monitors production levels and proactively adjusts to meet output targets in a safe and cost‑effective manner, reporting plant operation issues to Management and leveraging Operation Support resources as needed.
- Ensure plant safety practices are consistently applied.
- Manage day‑to‑day plant operations, ensuring processes run safely, timely, cost‑effectively, and efficiently.
- Oversee key activity areas: wastewater/environmental compliance; facility & equipment maintenance; receiving and soil sorting/classification; wash aisle; garment finishing/sortation; allied finishing; bundling and distribution.
- Set and achieve plant operation goals to ensure efficient, timely, high‑quality, and profitable completion of product activities.
- Supervise maintenance team for safe, efficient, and cost‑effective equipment and wastewater processing reviews.
- Collaborate with market center management to identify and implement systems that improve safety, operating efficiency, and cost constraints.
- Analyze market center profit and loss statements and work with the Plant General Manager to enhance positive results.
- Hire, place, and remove production plant staff as required.
- Post‑secondary education (four years suggested) in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering/Technology, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent business/work experience.
- Four to six years of experience in a corporate production environment with management responsibilities.
- Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility with documented business results.
- Proven ability to build effective professional relationships across departments within a market center and operations support.
- Knowledge of wastewater, facility and equipment maintenance; raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and strategies for effective processing and distribution.
- Understanding of customer and personal service principles, quality standards, and customer satisfaction evaluation.
- Familiarity with personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation, benefits, labor relations, and personnel information systems.
- Degree in Management or Industrial/Mechanical Engineering/Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
- Skill in Lean/Six Sigma or other quality program standards.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment.
- Demonstrated capability with competencies required for this position.
