Company Description
We are seeking a dynamic Weekend Shift Supervisor for our Rocky Mount, VA facility. In this role, you will lead, coach, and develop a team of skilled production associates while ensuring operational excellence in safety, quality, and efficiency.
Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities
Oversee Daily Operations- Supervise all production floor activities to ensure efficient window assembly and fabrication.
- Monitor production schedules and workflow to meet daily and weekly targets.
- Ensure windows meet quality standards, specs, and safety regulations.
- Conduct visual and measurement inspections during and after production.
- Direct, train, and mentor production workers, including assemblers, machine operators, and packers.
- Schedule shifts and assign tasks based on workload and employee skill sets.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
- Report and investigate accidents or near‑mises, and implement corrective actions.
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements in processes, layout, or workflow.
- Assist in lean manufacturing initiatives or continuous improvement programs.
- Work with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure raw materials (glass, vinyl, aluminum, hardware) are available.
- Track usage and minimize material.
- Ensure all time is approved and authorized daily.
- Knowledge of window assembly and components (e.g., glass, vinyl, aluminum, sashes, jambs)
- Understanding of manufacturing processes (cutting, welding, glazing, sealing, etc.)
- Lean manufacturing and 5S principles
- Quality control and inspection techniques
- Strong communication (clear directions, listening, conflict resolution)
- Team motivation and coaching
- Delegation and task prioritization
- Training new employees
- Problem Solving & Decision Making
- Troubleshooting equipment or process issues
- Quick decision‑making under pressure
- Root‑cause analysis for production issues
- Enforcing OSHA and plant safety standards
- Promoting a safety‑first culture
- Conducting safety meetings and audits
- Inventory and materials management
- Monitoring KPIs (efficiency, scrap, downtime)
- Production planning and shift hand‑offs
