Welcome to Gloucester! Gloucester County is looking for a knowledgeable, innovative and customer service-oriented individual to be the County Assessor, leading the Real Estate Assessment team.
OverviewReporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the County Assessor leads an established department of five full‑time employees. The department has been in operation for about 17 years and uses the CAMA system Vision. The goal is to produce a quality reassessment of all real property based on fair market value and ensure uniformity across all classifications.
Job Highlights- Full salary range: $86,276 - $129,414. Hiring salary based on qualifications and experience.

- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Economics, Business or Public Administration (or related field) required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Six to nine or more years of progressively responsible experience in assessment and appraisal, including complex databases and CAMA systems, with three years supervisory experience.
- Successful completion of core course curriculum of the International Association of Assessing Officers.
- Equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets Gloucester County Driving Standards.
- Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE) by the IAAO and a Certified General Real Estate Appraisal License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
