Description
The Preston Automotive Group is currently seeking a Parts Manager to join our team. Prior parts management experience is preferred, along with the drive to succeed, and the ability to live our core values daily.
Responsibilities
- Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them.
- Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all parts department staff.
- Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the parts department.
- Maintain a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the service department, body shop, wholesale accounts, and the do-it-yourself public.
- Establish pricing parameters in each customer category that generate sufficient gross profit to produce a satisfactory profit while maintaining customer loyalty.
- Establish individual parts inventory levels and balance them for maximum turnover.
- Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence.
- Ensure all parts are properly tagged so the dealership recovers full credit from the factory.
- Supervise stock order procedures.
- Set and enforce a policy on the special ordering of parts, ensuring stock orders represent a mutually agreed percentage of all orders.
- Analyze sales, expenses, and inventory monthly to maintain profit goals.
- Develop and administer an aggressive wholesale parts program to produce profit.
- Provide high-quality service to both external and internal dealership customers.
- Work with the service manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs.
- Attend managers' meetings.
- Analyze departmental operations and storage layout for maximum effectiveness.
- Provide technical assistance to parts department employees.
- Monitor payroll records of parts department employees.
- Coordinate a prompt and efficient flow of paperwork.
- Direct shipping and receiving efforts for timely processing.
- Monitor daily reports such as DOE, DOC, and sales productivity.
- Develop and use a lost sales tracking report.
- Lead outside parts and counter sales efforts, including telemarketing programs.
- Develop sales promotions and utilize manufacturer co-op advertising.
- Establish and enforce guidelines for customer interactions to ensure satisfaction.
- Handle customer complaints promptly and according to dealership policies.
- Ensure all dealership purchases are properly documented before payment.
- Assist in collecting past-due accounts.
- Stay informed of and comply with relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
