Overview
Safety Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring workplace safety by developing policies, conducting training, and overseeing compliance with safety regulations.
What You’ll Do- Tours and inspects smaller, less-complex job sites to ensure compliance with company, state and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
- Reports concerns to safety management. Ensures health and safety standards are met by coordinating, promoting and conducting programs related to the safety management system.
- Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas or procedures and recommending corrective procedures. Provides recommendations for correcting non‑compliance issues. Ensures cited issues are corrected within designated timeframe.
- Maintains all site‑required documentation related to safety issues, including accident reports, inspection reports and training logs.
- Reviews daily job hazard logs and takes action as required.
- Provides emergency response to employees as needed. Documents information for investigations of accidents and injuries and submits data to regulatory agencies as required.
- Serves as mentor to less‑experienced Safety employees.
- Assists with development of training materials and coordinates and facilitates employee training as necessary.
- Solid working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or state construction safety regulations.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills; solid problem‑solving skills; strong customer‑service and organizational skills.
- Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office) and ability to access OSHA information via the internet.
- Solid knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time.
- Exercises independent judgement and makes decisions as needed; consults with manager on decisions that significantly impact the company.
- This role does not supervise or direct other workflows; may mentor less‑experienced safety roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or equivalent experience preferred.
- Certifications in CPR and First Aid preferred.
- OSHA 10-hour and OSHA 30-hour training preferred.
- CHST or ASP certifications preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in related field.
