Finatal is partnered with a well-known Private Equity firm in search of a Corporate Controller for one of its portfolio companies.

The Company is a $150M full-service mechanical contractor that designs, installs, and maintains complex HVAC, plumbing, and building automation systems for large commercial and residential buildings. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Corporate Controller is crucial for helping the company enter the next phase of growth. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a well-known private equity firm’s high growth portfolio company.

Responsibilities

• Lead the functions of the controllership team including accounting, tax, audit and treasury.
• Complete accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits.
• Oversee all company general ledgers and reporting and coordinate all consolidated reporting.
• Establish and maintain a sound system of internal controls and operational processes in accordance with corporate guidelines, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency of said controls and processes.
• Examine, review, analyze and interpret accounting records in preparation of issuance of financial statements.
• Work with external auditors and provide needed information for the annual audit.
• Coordinates the monthly, quarterly, and annual close functions, ensuring that all transitions are booked in a timely manner and in accord with GAAP.
• Directs and integrates changes in processes into the account systems and accounting cycle.
• Lead the preparation and presentation of financial reports to the private equity firm’s investment team and board of directors on a monthly and quarterly basis.
• Oversee treasury and banking relationships.
• Lead initiatives to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize revenue and profitability.
• Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to inform strategic planning.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Qualifications:

• 5-10 years proven experience in a senior finance role ideally within a PE-backed or similar construction services company.
• Strong understanding of Percentage of Completion accounting principles.
• Excellent business partnering skills, with the ability to influence and drive strategic decisions.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Be able to work on site in Sterling, Virginia.
• Experience with Sage Intact and Service Titan Preferred.
