Utilities Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor for our facility in Big Island, VA. The Maintenance Supervisor will work with leaders from maintenance, operations, and engineering to develop both short‑term and long‑term maintenance strategies to ensure the safety, reliability and performance of maintenance area equipment. Through leadership, will establish expectations for crews and individual team members, including environmental, health & safety (EHS), compliance, quality, and reliability.

This role will report to the Maintenance Manager.

Georgia‑Pacific’s Big Island, VA container board mill is located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the James River and produces the paper used to make corrugated boxes. The mill employs more than 300 people.

• Lead and mentor employees to apply Principle Based Management.
• Lead the organization toward excellence in safety, environmental, health, and compliance.
• Lead, mentor, coach and hold direct reports accountable for maintenance department results.
• Ensure the annual performance development process is successfully carried out for employees in the department.
• Manage the environmental, health and safety risk associated with site maintenance activity.
• Develop and manage weekly schedules for maintenance crafts from planned work.
• Support the Utilities business unit to ensure mechanical integrity.

• Experience working within a manufacturing, industrial or military environment.
• Experience directly supervising others within a manufacturing, industrial or military environment.
• Knowledge of reliability concepts and implementing precision maintenance techniques to improve equipment reliability.

• Associate degree or higher.
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) (e.g., Passport).
• Experience in Pulp & Paper Industry.
• Experience with facilities maintenance and repairing/troubleshooting pumps, gearboxes, mechanical drive systems, and hydraulics systems.
