Description

Assist with the daily operations of the Riverwalk Landing Docks and the security and maintenance of dock facilities, including the office, docks, and associated equipment. Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the grounds adjacent to the docks, including landscaping and refuse collection/disposal. Perform minor repairs to equipment and facilities or notify Dockmaster for additional repairs. Collect and record fees associated with dock operations, provide information and assistance in various circumstances, and respond to inquiries and complaints.

Transport equipment, furniture, and supplies, and assist with the set‑up and takedown of various events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Equivalent education and experience equal to a high school diploma plus 1–2 years of closely related experience.
  • Good working knowledge of industrial housekeeping and boating and marina operations desired.
  • Valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with a good driving record mandatory.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • General knowledge of historic Yorktown area streets and building locations, and ability to provide directions to major points of interest desired.
  • General knowledge of personal computer software applications such as e‑mail and Microsoft Office Suite desired.
  • Valid Virginia Boaters safety license, or ability to complete in the first two weeks of employment.
  • Acceptable criminal background check required.
Supplemental Information

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors under all types of weather conditions with exposure to the usual hazards associated with outside maintenance. Incumbent is expected to work flexible hours and may be called in for work at varied hours and days, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Demands

Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Work often involves heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) of furniture, carrying of materials, bending, stooping, standing, and walking while performing moving and set‑up activities or supply deliveries.
