Overview

ECS is seeking a(n) Entry-Level Dispatcher to work in our Dulles, VA office. This position is contingent upon additional funding. Entry-level position that effectively performs the following: event logging and recording of centrally managed law enforcement radio monitoring, monitoring of intrusion detection systems, non-emergency and emergency dispatching, incident reporting, and utilization of investigative databases. After 90 days of employment, qualified candidates may be eligible for promotion to Dispatcher Level I, contingent upon availability.

The support we provide the client is 24x7x365, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays, across 3 daily shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Event logging and recording of centrally managed law enforcement radio monitoring
  • Monitoring of intrusion detection systems
  • Non-emergency and emergency dispatching
  • Incident reporting
  • Utilization of investigative databases
  • Effectively monitor radio communications
  • Provide timely response to requests for information
  • Monitor intrusion detection systems (IDS) using automated alarm monitoring software
  • Initiate internal and external law enforcement response based on defined criteria
  • Accurately capture and document event information
  • Ensure the accuracy of information stored in the alarm database
  • Provide professional customer service to internal and external parties
  • Monitor biological detection systems (BDS) and initiate dissemination of information
  • Communicate clear and concise information via telephone and radio communications
  • Access and communicate intelligence data maintained in internal and external databases
  • Query, enter, and update electronic records
Qualifications
  • Possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
  • Be a citizen of the United States of America per contract
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be able to attain and maintain a USPIS Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) Clearance
  • Be able to sit for an extended period of time while monitoring multiple computer monitors
  • Be able to maintain professionalism under highly stressful situations
  • Be able to read and comprehend the English language; including printed regulations, written instructions, training material, etc
  • Be able to write reports, and document events in a concise and accurate manner, including proofreading for grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Be able to speak the English language clearly and fluently
  • Be able to provide quality customer service while communicating with internal and external parties
  • Be able to hear ordinary telephone and radio conversations with either ear
  • Must possess strong computer and data entry skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Be able to type a minimum of 45 words per minute (WPM)
  • Be able to manage and prioritize tasks from multiple simultaneous sources (radio, telephone, alarm monitoring software, etc.)
  • Prior experience with alarm monitoring and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software is desirable
  • Effectively monitor radio communications
  • Provide timely response to requests for information
  • Monitor intrusion detection systems (IDS) using automated alarm monitoring software
  • Initiate internal and external law enforcement response based on defined criteria
  • Accurately capture and document event information
  • Ensure the accuracy of information stored in the alarm database
  • Provide professional customer service to internal and external parties
  • Monitor biological detection systems (BDS) and initiate dissemination of information

Desired Skills
  • Obtain dispatcher certification within nine (9) months of assignment that is equivalent to the APCO Law Enforcement Communications (LEC) certification
  • Obtain and maintain NCIC/NLETS Limited Certification within six (6) months of start date
