Multi Modality Technologist - Diagnostics - Nights
The Multi-Modality Technologist performs routine and complex high-quality imaging exams in assigned modalities.
Responsibilities- Provides safe, patient-centered care with attention to the physical and emotional needs of patients of all age groups.
- Must be willing and able to learn new skills and is required to maintain annual competencies in assigned modalities.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or
- Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) or
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Sonographer (ARRT(S)) or RDMS or CCI certification in Medical Sonography or RDCS certification in Cardiac Sonography or RVT certification as Vascular Technologist AND
- At least one of the following specialty certifications: MRI, CT, PET, ARDMS or CCI or RDCS or RVT – specialty certification
- VI or CI or CCI
- Mammo
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers)
- Certification by the ARRT or NMTCB or ARRT(S)/RDMS/RDCS/RVT with related credentialing as above
- At least one of the following additional certifications: MRI, CT, PET, Sonography
- Nuclear Medicine
- Experience
REQUIRED:
One (1) year of previous Technologist work experience. - Experience PREFERRED:
Three (3) to Five (5) years of previous Technologist work experience in each of the assigned modalities; experience in an academic medical center environment is preferred.
- Required:
Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology recognized by the ARRT or Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Nuclear Medicine recognized by the NMTCB and/or Graduation from a CAAHEP or CMA Accredited Program in Medical/Cardiac/Vascular Sonography or Graduation from a minimum of a 2-year JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology or Sonography recognized by the ARRT or Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS) or graduation from a Bachelor’s degree program in Sonography or Vascular Sonography. - Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Radiations Science, Radiologic Technology, Sonography, or Vascular Sonography.
- Multi-Modality Technologists independently perform or assist the licensed independent practitioner in the completion of radiologic imaging exams.
- Imaging exams are completed based on physician’s written orders, department protocols, and institutional safety standards. They represent the goals, values, and vision of VCU Health System.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, health system and department policies, procedures, processes, and guidelines applicable to the role.
- Resolve basic service delivery issues. (

Position Requirements
- Position requires review, signature, and adherence to supplementary job description and scopes of practice for assigned modality locations.
- Individual shift rotations and schedules will be established with the manager or supervisor.
- Schedules, shift rotations, and hours may be adjusted to meet staffing needs. Weekend and after-hours coverage may be required.
- Radiologic Technologists are considered “Essential Employees” who may be required to report to work per VCUHS policy.
