Answers phone calls. Communicates with patients in a courteous and professional manner. Receives and verifies prescriptions. Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the pharmacy operating software and electronic health record. Prepares medications through mixing, counting pills, and labeling bottles. Prices and fills prescriptions. Verifies 340B eligibility. Provides patient education related to prescriptions, within scope of knowledge and authority. Operates cash registers – including cash, check, and charge transactions and bags merchandise.
Runs end of day reports, balances cash registers, batches credit card receipts, and prepares daily deposit slips. Takes deposits to the bank. Checks-in and puts away drug orders. Assists with inventory counts, as needed. Records room temperature/humidity and refrigerator temperatures and reports any temperatures out of range to the Pharmacist-in-Charge and the HHS Chief Operations Officer. Performs regular inspections of AED, eye wash station(s), fire extinguishers, etc.
and maintains logbooks. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy. Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties, as assigned.
- Completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training program
- Current license to practice as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Three to five years of relevant experience preferred
