Job Details:

• Fast-paced inpatient surgical unit requiring previous surgical experience

• 1 year of nursing experience required

• Patient ratio of 6:1 for days, nights, and weekends

• Every other weekend requirement

• 40 hours of orientation provided

• BLS certification required

• Cannot guarantee block scheduling but will attempt to group shifts together when available

• Will accept pediatric surgical patients aged 12 and above depending on surgical procedure

• Care for patients with general surgery, abdominal surgery, urological surgery, orthopedic surgery, hysterectomy, mastectomy, spine surgery, and bariatric surgery

• Required skills include telemetry monitoring, post-angiogram care, accessing/managing ports, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, IV management, wound care, chest tube management, and continuous bladder irrigation

• Flu vaccine required with medical/religious exemptions only

• Zero tolerance policy for THC with drug screening required on day 1

• Fit testing required - must shave for fit test unless medical exemption approved

• RTO policy: expect to work holidays based on assignment length

The facility provides comprehensive surgical services and maintains interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary services.
