Position: Speech Language Pathologist (Days) Marion, VA - 27635
Location: Marion

Overview

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), as a member of the rehabilitation team, provides direct patient care services including patient evaluation, treatment and discharge planning for individuals referred for speech and language services. The SLP establishes individualized treatment plans and delivers quality therapy with respect to speech and language services. She/he ensures that patient care aligns with the medical treatment plan and is coordinated with other disciplines as appropriate.

The SLP provides patient and family instruction/home programs and performs other departmental tasks as assigned. The SLP should be outgoing, flexible to adjust to various situations, and demonstrate initiative and good judgment. The SLP pays close attention to detail and is committed to continuing education, upgrading skills, and rotating to other rehab service areas as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care including evaluation, treatment planning, therapy delivery, and discharge planning for speech/language services.
  • Coordinate care with the medical treatment plan and other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Provide patient and family instruction and home programs.
  • Assist with supervision and orientation of new employees; may supervise student clinicians and volunteers.
  • Follow ASHA guidelines for practice; aim to achieve ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence within 12 months of hire for the SLP Fellow track.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree from an approved university program in Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Licensure to practice Speech/Language Pathology in the appropriate state. Clinical Fellows must have provisional licensure as required by state prior to hire.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or completion of registration for Clinical Fellowship with the appropriate state Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology.
  • Current CPR certification.
