Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele) – Night Shift – 3×12 Hours

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit in a community hospital setting. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population while working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. The position is well-suited for nurses who are adaptable, clinically strong, and comfortable floating within scope as needed.

• Unit Type: Acute Care – Medical Surgical / Telemetry
• Days: 1:4
• Nights: 1:4
• Daily Census: Approximately 44 patients
• Beds: 54
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics
• Charting System: Epic (required)

• Weekend coverage:
  Every other weekend
• Float required within scope of practice
• Orientation:
  Approximately 72 hours

• Deliver safe, evidence‑based nursing care to MS/Tele patients
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition
• Manage cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias
• Administer medications including heparin protocols and cardiac drips (no titration)
• Provide care for patients requiring oxygen therapy, HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC and central line care, and port management
• Manage post‑surgical patients, wound care, wound vacs, chest tubes, and surgical drains
• Respond effectively to rapid response and code situations
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, Pharmacy, Case Management, and Social Services

• Active RN license (Virginia or Compact State)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (minimum 1 year required)
• Previous MS/Tele or Telemetry experience
• Epic EMR experience (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Strong cardiac monitoring and telemetry skills

• Community hospital experience
• BSN preferred
• IV therapy and phlebotomy experience
• Experience with neurological, gastrointestinal, renal, orthopedic, and cardiovascular patient populations

• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• New travelers accepted with required experience
• Pre‑approved time off:
  Up to 2 requests (must be submitted at time of submission)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• COVID‑19 vaccine not required
• Facility maintains a natural nail policy
• Background checks reviewed individually

Base pay range: $55.00/hr - $60.00/hr
