Overview
We have an outstanding career opportunity for an EHS Coordinator (Entry-level Safety Specialist) to join a leading Company located in the Gordonsville, TN surrounding area.
The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace health and safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. This role conducts audits, risk assessments, and training to maintain a safe work environment, reduce incidents, and promote a culture of safety. The position also provides first aid and emergency response support when required.
Responsibilities- Incident Investigation:
Investigate safety incidents and accidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions. - Audits & Inspections:
Lead safety audits and inspections; track findings and ensure timely implementation of permanent countermeasures. - Ergonomic Assessments:
Perform ergonomic evaluations and recommend improvements to reduce the risk of injury. - Hazard Identification:
Conduct routine and follow-up hazard assessments to support safety kaizens and process improvements. - Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and other applicable regulations; maintain documentation and records. - Safety Training:
Develop and deliver safety training programs (OSHA compliance, KYT, CPR, first aid) for employees and leadership; certify as trainer. - Committee Leadership:
Lead and support safety committees and employee engagement activities related to health and safety. - Emergency Response:
Respond to workplace medical emergencies and provide first aid treatment (if certified); maintain first aid stations and equipment. - Workers' Compensation:
Manage workers' compensation cases, including documentation, restrictions, and follow-up appointments. - Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare safety reports, presentations, and maintain evacuation maps, labels, and safety documentation. - Continuous Improvement:
Facilitate safety-related kaizen activities and implement best practices to reduce risk and improve compliance. - Collaboration:
Work closely with operations and HR teams to integrate safety into daily processes and projects. - Conducts training for first aid, CPR, and health programs – Certify as a Trainer.
- High school diploma or equivalent;
Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred. - Minimum 1-3 years of safety-related experience preferred
- OSHA 30-hour certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- CPR/First Aid certification required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of the manufacturing process is preferred.
- High degree of organization, attention to detail, and able to complete projects on time.
- Able to lead projects and work well with others on a team.
- Able to exercise a high degree of collaboration and problem-solving through verbal and written communication.
- Lead and execute company projects that may fall outside the scope of regular duties.
- Ability to communicate in the classroom and on the floor.
