Cape Charles Animal Hospital, Cape Charles, VA is a fast‑paced, two‑doctor general practice located in Cape Charles, VA. Our workplace culture is one of the most important parts of who we are — we take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We are seeking a Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our experienced team. We utilize our assistants and technicians to their full potential and provide ongoing opportunities to enhance technical skills.

This position is for experienced veterinary professionals only. Applicants must have prior experience working in a veterinary clinic to be considered.

• Checks patient medical records for past histories, enters in computer and files.
• Takes medical histories and vital signs of patients.
• Maintains client educational material in an efficient manner.
• Performs departmental housekeeping duties.
• Admits and discharges patients.
• Takes, processes and logs prescription refills in‑house, call out pharmacy and online pharmacy.
• Monitoring hospital patients and logging vital signs.
• Administering medications to patients as needed.
• Placing catheters and performing blood draws.
• Restraining and assisting the doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia procedures.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, and stand on feet for long periods.
• Other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered Veterinary Technicians in VA are preferred, not necessarily required. We are open and willing to train the right candidate.
