Within our retail locations, our Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise.
As a Technician you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. You are often the first point of contact for patients and customers, providing an enriched experience and ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately while delivering caring service that exceeds expectations. You will apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices and effective communication in all interactions.
Until your training is complete and all registration, licensing and certification requirements are met, duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating heartfelt and personalised moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru and over the phone; offer immunisations and other services at the register and over the phone; and solve or elevate patient problems with compassionate care. .binary
- Perform basic inventory activities (putaway medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting bin inventories) as permitted by law and directed by leadership. Collaborate effectively with peers, embrace a growth mindset and actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, volunteering to travel to stores within the market as required by the business.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state and local laws, regulations, professional standards and ethical principles; follow CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and proper controlled‑substance dispensing and record‑keeping.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (immunisations, point‑of‑care testing, voluntarily staffing off‑site clinics) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.

Where permissible, the Pharmacy Technician may also support immunisations, which includes the following responsibilities:
- Complete additional licensure and training requirements in compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations to obtain Technician Immuniser status and support vaccine preparation and administration.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer patients to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions; report adverse reaction events per public health requirements.
- Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
- Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including minerai of age, education and licensure/certification.
