Ballad Health is hiring a Phlebotomist I (Varied) for Smyth County Community Hospital. The role involves performing blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques from patients of all ages, following Ballad Health’s standard operating procedures. The position may also include chain of custody collections, sweat chloride collections, therapeutic phlebotomies, throat and NP specimen collections, and additional clerical duties as needed.

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques.
• Process chain of custody collections, sweat chloride collections, therapeutic phlebotomies, throat and NP specimen collections.
• Provide phlebotomy services in patient care areas outside the hospital (regional cancer centers, nursing homes, physician offices, community health fairs).
• Perform related clerical duties.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Ballad Health Patient Safety and Patient Information Security.
• Participate in training of new team members.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and families.

• Valid and active Phlebotomist certification required.
• BLS certification required.
