The Physical Therapist Clinician II is primarily responsible for the delivery of physical therapy care to the patient population to which she/he is assigned and the recording of that care in the hospital medical record. The therapist acts as a consultant to various patient populations and provides instruction to OT/PT support staff, PT students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, patient and/or family members.
Therapists may rotate through our various clinical service areas.
- Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
- Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
- Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Physical Therapist
- Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy
- Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy
- Successful challenge of the VCUHS Physical Therapy Clinical Ladder
- Patient evaluation and implementation of intervention programs, discharge planning.
- Ordering equipment.
- Representing department at rounds and discharge conferences.
- Scheduling and charging patients.
- Employee may have supervisory responsibilities of Physical Therapist Assistants, Patient Care Technicians, students, and volunteers.
- Employee is a member of a self‑directed team and applies his/her knowledge and experience in daily clinic problem solving. The team will bring unresolved issues to departmental manager for assistance and guidance in their resolution.
- Employee is expected to share in weekend and holiday schedule expectations of the department or have a fluctuation of daily work hours from 8 AM to 7 PM based on patient population needs.

- Emotional – Fast pace environment, steady pace, able to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment, able to adapt to frequent change
