Behavioral Health Senior Clinician - Jail & Court Based Services

The Fairfax‑Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) is hiring for a Behavioral Health Senior Clinician to support the efforts of Diversion First on the Jail Based Team. Adult Detention Center – Jail Based Services
Jail Based Clinician:
The Behavioral Health Senior Clinician is the lead clinician on a multidisciplinary team, whose co‑workers include therapist/case managers, medical staff, peer support specialists and criminal justice system partners. The clinician serves as a primary therapist/case manager, providing a wide range of professional treatment services to diagnostically, culturally, and socio‑economically diverse client populations with serious mental illness, substance use, emotional and co‑occurring disorders as well as developmental disabilities.
Case management duties include community and office‑based services, collaboration with community partners such as human services providers, criminal justice system partners and healthcare providers. The clinician provides services driven by client choice through collaborative, motivational relationships in individualized treatment planning. The clinician may conduct individual, group and family therapy and testify in court. Must maintain detailed documentation in an electronic health record meeting state, local and federal performance contract, and licensing expectations.
This position is eligible for an annual environmental bonus of $5,408 for full‑time positions.
Location/schedule: This is an onsite position at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The position’s work hours include weekend and evening hours, as well as some holidays, and on‑call.

Job Duties (Illustrative):
- Performs complex evaluations and makes independent diagnoses using DSM‑5.
- Provides individual, family and group treatment.
- Maintains a diverse caseload with acute and chronic mental illness.
- Approves and implements therapeutic treatment plans.
- Conducts intensive clinical interventions.
- Provides family therapy in a residential setting.
- Recommends, monitors and coordinates clinical care to non‑CSB clients.
- Prepares court‑ordered diagnostic and forensic evaluations.
- Provides discharge planning and coordination of after‑care service plans for clients leaving state, local and private psychiatric hospitals.
- Collaborates with service professionals as lead of Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
- Consults with professionals on a variety of complex cases.
