The Position

The Town of Strasburg is seeking community-minded applicants to serve on the Planning Commission. This is an opportunity to contribute to the community’s future by participating in decisions that shape the character and quality of life in Strasburg.

During their term, a Planning Commissioner will play an active role in shaping the Town’s growth and development by reviewing and making recommendations on a variety of land-use and planning matters. These responsibilities include evaluating planning cases such as rezonings, special use permits, zoning text amendments, and subdivisions, as well as participating in the review and periodic update of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan.

Commissioners also contribute to long‑range planning efforts by creating and reviewing the Capital Improvements Plan, helping to prioritize public projects and investments that support the community’s future needs.

• Planning Commissioners’ appointments are accepted as a four-year term.
• This position is for an appointment to a vacant position in which the term runs through the 2026 calendar year. After the term is completed, the Town Council may agree to reappoint the commissioner for another term.
• Must be a resident of the town, unless qualified by knowledge and experience to make decisions on questions of community growth and development.
• Be available to attend the required meetings. Standard meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. Special meetings may be scheduled for specific needs.

• Ideal candidates will demonstrate an interest in helping guide the town’s long-term growth and development, with preferred experience in planning, zoning, land use, or related development fields.
