Position OverviewA reputable financial institution is seeking an experienced professional to oversee late-stage delinquency management for mortgage‑secured loans. This role is responsible for collections strategy, loss mitigation efforts, foreclosure oversight, and vendor management to minimize financial exposure and ensure regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will bring strong mortgage servicing expertise, regulatory knowledge, and leadership experience within foreclosure and default operations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of mortgage loans in late‑stage delinquency, including collections, loss mitigation, foreclosure, and bankruptcy oversight.
- Attempt borrower outreach to develop repayment or loss mitigation plans aimed at curing delinquency and avoiding foreclosure when possible.
- If resolution is not achievable, compile and validate required documentation for foreclosure referral to outside counsel.
- Monitor foreclosure timelines to ensure actions are completed in accordance with investor, insurer, state, and federal guidelines.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize loss severity and improve foreclosure process efficiency.
- Conduct equity analysis and recommend appropriate courses of action, including legal action or charge‑off where applicable.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all borrower communications within servicing and collection systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations including FCRA, FDCPA, SCRA, CFPB, OCC, and other federal and state requirements.
- Conduct required compliance searches (including SCRA) and monitor property condition, escalating concerns as necessary.
- Review and validate legal documentation such as pleadings, affidavits, briefs, contracts, and discovery materials.
- Serve as organizational representative at hearings, mediations, and depositions when required.
- Maintain consistent communication with outside counsel and foreclosure attorneys.
- Oversee vendor management, including invoice review and approval.
- Complete investor‑required reporting and special projects for agency and portfolio loans.
- Stay current on regulatory and legal updates impacting mortgage servicing and foreclosure processes.
- Perform additional related duties and projects as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 5–7+ years of mortgage servicing experience
- Prior leadership or management experience required
- Experience servicing GSE and portfolio foreclosure, bankruptcy, and collection loans
- Strong knowledge of general mortgage servicing practices
- Experience managing attorney and vendor relationships
- Solid understanding of foreclosure timelines, investor guidelines, and compliance requirements
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word – Intermediate)
- Experience working within mortgage servicing and collection systems
