The development plan includes 900 residential entitlements, featuring estate homes and homesites, executive homesites, cottages, villas, townhomes and luxury condominium accommodations. The resort's planned amenities include a spa & wellness center, multiple restaurants, social and conference meeting space and a rich array of resort activities all anchored by the prestigious Cutalong Golf Club.
PositionSummary
The Controller is the senior on-site financial leader for Cutalong, responsible for financial integrity, disciplined reporting, and operational financial leadership across golf, dining, retail, membership, events, and club amenities. This role partners closely with the General Manager, department leaders, and ownership/board to ensure financial transparency while supporting a premium, member-first experience.
Cutalong at Tributer Resort operates in a luxury service environment with close alignment between club operations, golf and real estate sales. The Controller plays a critical role in managing seasonality, controlling cost volatility, and providing forward-looking financial insight to leadership.
Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Closing- Own the monthly close process and preparation of accurate, timely financial statements
- Prepare variance analysis with clear operational drivers (rounds, covers, events, staffing, weather impacts)
- Present monthly financial results to the GM and ownership with clarity and confidence
- Prepare entries for corporate consolidation
- Lead the annual operating and capital budgeting process
- Build and maintain seasonally driven forecasts reflecting peak summer golf operations, shoulder seasons, event-driven demand
- Support rate setting and financial modeling for membership dues and deposits, guest and sponsored play, private events and activations
- Proactively identify margin pressures tied to weather, staffing, or volume shifts
- Serve as financial partner to Golf, F&B, Membership, Retail, and Events leadership
- Monitor and analyze rounds played and utilization, F&B covers, average check etc., labor productivity and scheduling efficiency, inventory turns and purchasing discipline
- Support pricing, menu engineering, and vendor negotiations
- Ensure high-touch programs (member events, hosted rounds, discovery visits) are budgeted, tracked, and controlled
- Establish and enforce strong internal controls over cash handling, member billing, inventory, purchasing, and approvals.
- Ensure compliance with club bylaws and governing documents, management agreements (if applicable), and lender or ownership reporting requirements
- Coordinate audits, reviews, and tax filings
- Oversee membership billing, deposits, refunds, and tracking
- Partner with club leadership and ownership on membership growth and attrition analysis, and financial impact of membership programs and incentives
- Support financial tracking of real estate-adjacent club usage, discovery visits, and hosted experiences to ensure transparency between club operations and sales initiatives
- Track capital expenditures and ensure proper accounting treatment
- Support reserve planning and long-term capital forecasting
- Monitor project budgets for clubhouse, course, and amenity improvements
- Provide financial input on prioritization of capital projects
- Lead and develop the club's accounting and finance staff
- Establish clear procedures, deadlines, and accountability
- Build a culture of accuracy, responsiveness, and service-oriented finance
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA designation is preferred
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Strong knowledge of hospitality and/or private club accounting
- Experience with multiple locations, outlets, buildings, golf courses etc.
- Proven experience leading budgets, forecasts, and monthly closes
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with club or hospitality financial systems
- Experience with private clubs, luxury hospitality or golf operations is highly preferred
- Familiarity with club management systems (e.g., Jonas, Clubessential, Northstar, Agilysys)
- Experience supporting ownership or board-level reporting
- Exposure to membership deposit accounting and capital planning
