Job Summary: The Financial Management Analyst – Assessable Units & Accelerated Audit Plan (AAP) supports the Department of Defense Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) program by executing activities related to assessable unit (AU) control environments and the Accelerated Audit Plan. This role focuses on strengthening business process controls, supporting audit remediation efforts, and accelerating progress toward a modified or unmodified audit opinion.

The analyst works closely with assessable unit owners, process leads, and audit stakeholders to document, test, and improve internal controls while aligning remediation efforts to the AAP milestones and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Assessable Unit Control Environment Support:

  • Support the documentation and maintenance of assessable unit (AU) control environments across assigned business process cycles.
  • Assist assessable unit owners in identifying key controls, risks, and dependencies impacting financial reporting.
  • Ensure AU documentation aligns with FIAR guidance and internal control standards.

Accelerated Audit Plan (AAP) Execution:

  • Support execution of the Accelerated Audit Plan
    , ensuring remediation activities are aligned with audit milestones and priorities.
  • Assist in tracking AAP initiatives, milestones, and deliverables to support accelerated audit outcomes.
  • Coordinate with functional teams to ensure AAP-driven improvements are implemented and documented.

Control Documentation & Testing:

  • Develop and update process narratives, flowcharts, Control Evaluation Matrices (CEMs), and walkthrough documentation for assessable units.
  • Support Test of Design (TOD) and Test of Operating Effectiveness (TOE) activities for key controls.
  • Document testing results and support the identification of control gaps and deficiencies.
  • Assist in developing and tracking corrective action plans (CAPs) for identified control deficiencies.
  • Support continuous process improvement efforts to strengthen control effectiveness and audit readiness.
  • Coordinate with assessable unit leads to validate remediation actions and supporting evidence.

Audit & Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Support audit engagement activities by responding to data calls and auditor requests related to assessable units.
  • Assist in preparing briefings, status reports, and metrics related to AU health and AAP progress.
  • Facilitate coordination between assessable unit owners, audit liaisons, and senior leadership.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting FIAR, assessable units, internal controls, audit remediation, or DoD financial management initiatives.
  • Experience working with assessable units, process cycles, or audit remediation activities is preferred.

Skills:

  • Understanding of FIAR methodology
    , GAO Green Book assessable unit concepts, and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience supporting Audit Plans
    , audit roadmaps,
    or large-scale remediation efforts
    .
  • Experience documenting and evaluating business process controls.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Anticipation:
Montcure is currently bidding on the task orders for this engagement with a reward date currently anticipated in February.

  • Junior Analyst: 2–3 years FIAR/AU experience
  • Mid-Level Analyst: 4–6 years FIAR/AU and AAP experience
  • Senior Analyst: 7+ years leading AU remediation and AAP execution
