Position: INTERDISCIPLINARY GENERAL ENGINEER/ARCHITECT
Location: Atlantic

Summary

You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY GENERAL ENGINEER/ARCHITECT in the Planning, Design, & Construction Division of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC.

Duties
  • Manage eProjects records for each project: loading initial project information, project status, notes under the Notes tab, schedule (Milestone or MS Project), and Construction Working Estimate (CWE) calculator.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and funding processes to include customer funds requests and tracking of funding documents within the prescribed financial systems.
  • Work with Design Manager on development of AE statement of work/ IGE, negotiations, and oversee acquisition of and management for AE design task orders.
  • Plan and lead meetings and conferences required for execution of the project(s).
Qualifications

GS-12 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Leading project teams with responsibility to coordinate and manage scope, schedule, and budget for facilities planning, design, and construction;
  • Coordinating all phases of facilities planning, design, and construction independently within constraints and stakeholder requirements;
  • Developing, monitoring, and controlling schedules in coordination with stakeholders requirements and commitments;
  • Tracking and reporting project status using enterprise project management software tools, scheduled reports and briefings, and unscheduled data calls;
  • Coordinating the development and implementation of project acquisition plans in alignment with enterprise goals, legal constraints and best practices.

PE or RA is NOT required.

GS-13 In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector demonstrating the following:

  • Coordinating all phases of facilities planning, design, and construction independently within constraints and stakeholder requirements;
  • Preparing and presenting high-visibility reports, briefs, updates, and/or correspondence on project status including recommendations for unique solutions to highly complicated issues with project scope, schedule, funding, etc.;
  • Coordinating the development and implementation of project acquisition plans in alignment with enterprise goals, legal constraints and best practices;
  • Managing the productive efforts of team personnel through priority-based workload assignments, balancing available resources, and identifying overall priorities;
  • Providing mentoring, advice, and counsel to employees regarding technical, administrative, and performance matters; managing employee and project management community development and training in accordance with Community Management Plan and other Command requirements.

Education

For the GS-0801:
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics;

(b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
