Project Overview
This Statement of Work defines responsibilities, scope, deliverables, and performance expectations for the Mechanical Engineer supporting construction of a mission‑critical data center facility. Mechanical systems include chilled water generation and distribution, CRAH/CRAC units, AHUs, evaporative cooling, heat‑rejection equipment, mechanical piping systems (CHW, CW, HHW, CDW, fuel), BAS controls, ventilation, pressurization, and fire protection coordination.
Engineering Design Review
- Review mechanical design documents, specifications, and IFC packages.
- Validate compliance with codes, OEM requirements, and owner design standards.
- Respond to RFIs and coordinate clarifications across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Evaluate equipment selections, submittals, shop drawings, and proposed substitutions.
Construction Phase Services
- Conduct field walks to verify installation against drawings and specifications.
- Support installation sequencing and constructability reviews.
- Oversee equipment placement, clearances, anchorage, vibration isolation, and safety compliance.
- Monitor piping fabrication, welding QA/QC, and pressure testing.
- Resolve field non conformances and track corrective actions.
Coordination and Interface Management
- Coordinate MEP interfaces with electrical, structural, civil, plumbing, and controls disciplines.
- Support BIM coordination and clash resolution efforts.
- Participate in weekly OAC and MEP trade coordination meetings.
- Ensure mechanical systems integrate with electrical infrastructure, UPS rooms, battery rooms, and data halls.
Testing, Commissioning, and Turnover
- Develop and review commissioning scripts and procedures.
- Witness functional testing, equipment startup, CHW balancing, and BAS control point testing.
- Validate operational sequences and Basis of Design intent.
- Support IST, punchlist creation, closure, and final turnover documentation.
Deliverables
- Reviewed mechanical submittals and shop drawings.
- Weekly engineering field reports.
- RFI responses and technical clarifications.
- QA/QC inspection reports and built condition redlines.
- Commissioning witness reports.
- Final mechanical sign off for turnover.
Standards and Requirements
- Work must comply with ASHRAE standards, IMC, ASME B31.1/9, NFPA 90A/70/72/110, AHJ requirements, owner design standards, project specifications, and manufacturer installation guidelines.
Schedule Expectations
- Engineer supports all phases of project IMS, design reviews, major equipment submittal approvals, construction milestones, commissioning windows, and turnover deadlines.
Performance Requirements
- Timely review of submittals and RFIs.
- Accurate and clear documentation.
- Proactive issue identification and resolution.
- Collaborative engagement with GC, trades, and owner teams.
- High standards of safety, workmanship, and professionalism.
