CIS Secure is leading a multi-year program in partnership with an industry integrator to deliver a next-generation secure communication system for aircraft operations. Based in Ashburn, VA, the initiative will produce a ruggedized, military-grade VOIP solution that enables secure voice and data communication across multiple classified domains. The program spans the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements analysis and preliminary design through prototyping, integration, and verification testing, executed under AS6500, AS9100, and CMMI standards.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will serve as a technical lead on the architecture design and implementation of this product.

We provide a wide range of products, including secure telephones, secure computers, encrypted tactical communication systems and secure video conferencing systems.
Responsibilities- Derive requirements for individual Configuration Items (CI) to functional area.
- Track requirements in Rational DOORS or equivalent.
- Work with technical lead to develop design that meets the customer specification.
- Generate drawings and models per Mil-Standards and Data Item Descriptions in support of a compliant Technical Data Package.
- Perform load and thermal analysis on design.
- Position anticipates on-site work Monday–Friday; occasional telework may be considered.
- Primary work location: CIS Secure headquarters, Ashburn, VA. Minimal local travel.
- All candidates must be a US citizen or permanent resident at time of application.
- Active and current DoD Secret clearance highly preferred; candidates must be clearable.
- 15+ years of experience designing military-hardened IT systems in aerospace and defense industry.
- Familiarity with USAF Airworthiness Risk Assessment and Acceptance Bulletin (AWB‑150B), MIL‑HDBK‑817, MIL‑STD‑3100B, MIL‑STD‑129R, MIL‑STD‑1366E, MIL‑STD‑882E.
- 20+ years of experience designing military-hardened IT systems.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; or equivalent combination.
- Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline highly preferred.
- None required.
- Regular walking, sitting, standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 25 lb.
- Ability to travel, fly, or drive for client visits.
- Noise level typically low to moderate.
