For the current academic year , Blue Ridge School seeks a Math Teacher
. This role is a full-time, 9 month, position that has primary responsibilities to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This position requires teaching four sections of mathematics each day. Course assignments may include a range of offerings, such as Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and advanced mathematics courses, including Calculus or AP-level Calculus.

Specific course placements will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, comfort level, and demonstrated strengths.

The ideal candidate is a committed educator who is at their core, student oriented, collaborative in nature, willing to work with and support the teachers in their department, and has the ability to balance leadership and directives with teacher autonomy. Candidates should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a Math related field from an accredited institution. Candidates with experience teaching science courses will be strongly considered.
  • Establish meaningful connections with students, ensuring all students are known and valued.
  • Create a classroom environment where students are actively engaged in learning and can apply their learning in authentic ways
  • Demonstrate flexibility in addressing the diverse learning needs of all students, offering differentiated instruction and support.
  • Values and respects diverse student backgrounds and perspectives, ensuring all students feel seen and heard.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with students, parents, peers, and supervisors
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, time management, problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Build a classroom atmosphere that is positive and supportive of student growth
  • A passion for teaching and continuous professional development.
  • Ability to read and write within the discipline of mathematics to support mathematical understanding, reasoning, and communication
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate engaging learning experiences
  • Develop course syllabi and lesson plans in alignment with the Math Department’s curricular scope and sequence
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction
  • Engages students in safe, student-centered teaching methods, including numerous activities, projects, labs, and outdoor learning opportunities.
  • Willingness to work with students of different academic backgrounds, utilizing professional development opportunities and experiences to identify and select appropriate instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying learning profiles.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and resources
  • Work with students to make connections between mathematics and other disciplines in order to select the appropriate application of mathematics skills and concepts to solve problems.
